Haircut trends come and go, and the same is true for 2016. We may only be a month in, but already three interesting styles have become the trend for men’s haircuts this year. They’re called the fade, the undercut, and the pompadour, and if you want to fit in with the trendy crowd, you’ll want to see a stylist soon to get one of these cuts.
The Fade is a classic style that is almost always popular. The top is kept fairly short, but as you go down the sides and the back, the hair is cut progressively shorter using clippers. The final effect is that the hair fades downwards as it goes. This type of cut is easy to maintain, looks great, and is very professional.
The Undercut is an older style, but it came back into popularity in 2014, and it’s remained one of the top hairstyles for men. With an Undercut, the sides and back are kept shorter than the top. The hair is usually parted in the center or on one of the sides. Recently, the trend has been to wear the Undercut with slicked back bangs.
The modern Pompadour style is one of the trendiest cuts, especially about those who identify as hipsters. Originating as a woman’s cut in France, the style is named after King Louis XV’s mistress Madame de Pompadour. However, when Elvis Presley got a Pompadour cut, it became the look of men around the country. It’s now back in style and is being worn by everyone from students to celebrities.
The Pompadour features fairly short sides with the hair on top swept back and up. The top is usually kept a bit on the long side so that it has some height to it.
